General description
The anaesthesia assistant assist the anaesthetist during operations. For this the individual will need to know what different treatment/operations entail, which complications can occur, which techniques are being used, which equipment is needed and how this equipment works. In addition the individual will need to have knowledge ready on the medication given, and be capable of supporting and informing the patient throughout the procedure. The safety and wellbeing of the patient are primary tasks, whether it concerns a local anaesthetic or complete anaesthetic.

Job description

The Anaesthesia Assistant offers professional anaesthesia assistance with research and treatment for clinical and polyclinic patients. The department Aneasthesia is responsible for the total, regional and/or local anaesthesia for patients coming to the operating department.
Your primary tasks is to support the Anaesthetist by monitoring, analysing, controlling and interfering (replacing or supporting) vital bodily functions. This occurs during operations, examinations, emergency situations, en during transport.

Within this close cooperation with the anaesthetist you have your own independency en authority for the anaesthetics en care for the patients. Anaesthesia assistants participate in pain treatment and the “pain poli”. In addition they will contribute to preoperative and postoperative pain teams, for which you will receive extensive schooling.

Other areas in which you will be put to work are, X-ray department, Emergency Room and the delivery area. The Anaesthetist use a 2 table-system. The team consist of Anaesthesia Assistants, and trainee Anaesthesia Assistants.

The Department
The hospital currently has 16 operating rooms, in two locations. All specialities are represented apart from cardio- and intracranial surgery. Both low, middle as well as high complex surgery is practised, such as lung-, neuro-, and vessel surgery. The Operating Room employees work with modern techniques and equipment such as a anaesthesia reporting system. The hospital will continuously and structurally invest in its staff.

The Candidate
- Experienced in all fields of Anaesthetics
- Minimum of 3 years experience (min hours per week 24) in similar or equivalent position
- Accurate, service oriented person
- Willing to follow a full time course at the 4Health Academy
- Willing and able to relocate to the Netherlands.
